Prince Albrecht Otrese

With a belly as plump as an overripe berry, this man's excessive figure is at odds with the way in which he moves and in general carries himself. Every step is precise, and oddly quiet for someone of his prodigious girth, and every gesture cuts through the air around him -- even if laden with food or drink -- with a scalpel's exactness. His gray eyes have a storm's intensity to them, but their power and magnitude is softened by the jiggle of his jowls.

A grandson of the late Emperor Rubert Otrese, who is Koline's great-grandfather, Albrecht holds the honorific of prince, but has never been even remotely close to the line of succession, short of some outlandish circumstance. Still, he had the opportunity as a young man to get involved in the work of the Imperial Crown, and he duly did so, applying himself carefully and diligently to any task set in front of him.

He found himself repeatedly in the good graces of his family and in 629, was favoured by the late Empress Constanze Otrese, who appointed Albrecht as her Prime Minister, the seniormost person in the Imperial Crown. He did not exactly throw himself at the position, but rather accepted it and proceeded much as he always has.

Albrecht has a keen mind and seems able to see around corners to spot problems in his work. He is and has always been fastidious and diligent in all that he does. He takes pride in a job well done, including his work as Imperial Prime Minister to date. His is a position of pulling umpteen different bureaucratic levers each day and of staying apprised of fresh developments. He is not exactly the most vibrant figure at court, though attends social functions where proper and is known to be a keen observer of tournaments.

Albrecht is a superb administrator and has a broad range of political experience.
