Janina Fletza

Janina was steeped in the maritime tradition of Chelm and of her family in her younger years. She learned all the ins and outs of sailing by the Wailing Coast, which can be a dangerous experience even at the best of times. She has spent her share of time in service with the Commonwealth's fleet, where she made for a competent officer, but was never especially happy, whereas her brother, Zygmunt, finds consistent fulfilment in military service.

With some family encouragement, in her later 20s, she travelled farther afield. She has sought, and still seeks, various ships to take passage on, offering her not inconsiderable expertise in return. She has been aboard ships across various parts of Elthos, mostly within the empire. Lately, she has based herself primarily out of Sanctuary, though she will readily depart if an interesting spell at sea is available.

Amid her travels, she has spent quite some time with groups which have been in search of ancient sites along the Elthosian coast. Although there has been nothing especially groundbreaking, she is well used to the conduct and requirements of such a search.

Janina is fond of travel for travel's sake. Though she has experience serving on military vessels, military service does not particularly inspire or fulfil her. If she is called on for it, she will certainly answer, but unless that call is made, she will occupy herself elsewhere. She sometimes takes passage on merchant ships, or on occasion on vessels owned by noble houses which are engaged in specific errands. Sometimes she will only join a ship from one port to the next, then seek passage on a different ship entirely after that. She is happy with it all. She is capable of staying still for a time, most often in Sanctuary, which usually has the most news about opportunities across the empire. At court, she is generally agreeable and easygoing, with little interest in politics.

Janina is a competent seafarer and traveller.
