Description
Background
Jurand was a loud youth, rather taking after his father, Szymon, the previous head of House Fletza. He didn't get much quieter as an adult, either. The house has expansive landholdings, both within Chelm and beyond it, and extensive political interests too, whether within the Commonwealth or at the imperial court. Jurand took it upon himself to be involved in all of this to some extent. As a young man, he was a vociferous advocate for the interests of House Fletza, wherever he might be.
In 609, Jurand's younger sister, Agata, married Victor Vanzek, son of the late Queen Aldona. Jurand inherited the position of boyar in 623. Aldona died in 627. While Victor's aunt, Irma, and long-time friend, Grand Duchess Zaria Albalaski, were the first proponents of Victor being elected king, it met with the ready, and loud, support of Jurand, to the surprise of nobody. He's not even known to be that fond of Victor, nor Victor of him, but that didn't for a moment hinder the Fletza support.
Jurand's rule of House Fletza's domain has been steady. Loud though he is about issues concerning his house, he rarely involves himself with minor details, or sometimes even major ones, leaving those to his family or minor nobles under the umbrella of Fletza's influence to deal with.
Jurand married Lady Teresa Mardas, a cousin of Duke Evander Mardas, in 605, and they have two children. Teresa is just about the only person with whom Jurand will not be persistently loud.
Personality
If Jurand has something to say, he is going to say it there and then, and if someone else has something to say at the same time, they can simply wait until he is done. To the general relief of the denizens of the Commonwealth and indeed much of the imperial court, Jurand does not always have something to say, and even goes through bouts of listening. The moment the discourse might seem to contain a matter contrary to House Fletza's interests though, he will rapidly find something fresh to add. If Jurand has a political ally, he will loudly speak on behalf of that ally too. He is not a detail-oriented individual, deferring that to others to dispose of.
Notable Traits
Jurand is a public speaker who will be heard, whether his audience likes it or not, and an able if unsubtle political operator.
