Description
Background
Sabine is a second cousin of the late Count Gerhart Lindner. She received a martial education, as so many Lindners do, but proved to be a somewhat unremarkable fighter. She persisted nonetheless, and it was only when she was into her 20s that her ability to read the terrain and direct soldiers really came to prominence. First there were a few minor skirmishes in western Hadash in the early 610s, barely over a decade after Hadash joined the empire, where she led a small band of knights in support of soldiers of the royal House Rannal, and thoroughly impressed them. In 617, she led troops during the Greenwood War, and was able to outmanoeuvre and catch Intisi border patrols before they could sound any alarm - there was scant little actual fighting in the war. She was invited by the Companions to join the order after that, and duly did so.
Time after time since then, Sabine has offered superb insight on tactical situations. While she did not at all forget that she is a noble of House Lindner, her relatives were quite happy for her to devote her time to the Companions. Much of the order, including Lord Bruno Pabst, the previous First, went north in search of the missing Lindner-Sikorin expedition near the Terror in 629. In 630, after Bruno opted to retire from the post, the late Emperor Rubert Otrese named Sabine the First, with the unanimous support of the order.
Personality
Sabine is a superlative commander and tactician. She understands very well the capacity of her fellow Companions and how best to direct them. She can look at a patch of countryside or wilderness and envisage every way in which soldiers might be deployed and in which a battle might happen. She comports herself with consistent dignity. She possesses a sometimes imperious air, though she can temper it for less public settings. She is an adherent of the Cult of Valon, though her outlook is that dedication is best shown through superb leadership. Sabine is not a woman who particularly believes in free time; if she is in Sanctuary, then she is often looking for the next worthy deed to do.
Notable Traits
Sabine is an incredibly capable tactician and a fine leader.
