Senator Adelina Lavini

Adelina grew up in the luxurious surrounds of Benetta, capital of the Grand Republic, niece of the previous head of house. She achieved a position on the city council in her mid-20s - young indeed for members of the Benetta council, which at that time at least still maintained a semblance of competitive elections, though ultimately well-placed bribes secured her a position. At 32, she was first elected to Thasen's senate. She spent her early political career struggling to achieve some - any - internal reform that would ease the motion of the Grand Republic's creaking bureaucracy, but gained no real traction.

She inherited the position of head of house in 624. She had less ill-will towards House Corti towards its foreign adventurism in the Greenwood War of 617, and her tenure as head of house saw the thawing of relations between the Lavinis and Cortis, and the reopening of regular competition between Lavini and Damiani too.

She has continued to seek reform of the Republic, though increasingly believes that it needs to be changed to a noble system akin to the rest of the empire. She holds the view that the Imperial Crown will be content provided the taxes from the Republic continue to come through, and the Republic's woes would be eased by having true executive authority to enact reform.

Adelina is a woman fed up with the system, and she is strident and vigorous in expressing as much. Of course the system has benefited her, but it has been a struggle and a nuisance. The rest of the empire can enjoy smooth governance by fully empowered nobility, or so she sees it. She is not insincere in her vision for a better, more efficient Republic, though some may take issue with her particular aim. She believes in even further centralisation of power, ideally into her hands, to set the Republic to rights. It is not even a consistent view inside her own family either, and she does not have absolute authority over them. She is especially at odds with her nephew, the vibrant Matteo, mayor of Benedetta, who leans sharply . The family disagreement is publicly known.

She has had a taste for luxury from an early age. She likes to have the best of clothes, of jewellery, to have the best food and drink to offer her guests, and to have the best of homes too.

Adelina understands the ins and outs of Thasen politics and of the administration of her house. She has a taste for luxury and sometimes hosts in very fine surrounds.
