Description
Background
Adherbal is from a well-to-do artisan family in First Market, though as a young man, he entered the service of directly, as a scribe. First Market has historically been a safe and prosperous place, far removed from the troubles of the outside world. House Phavah has always traded for the goods it needs, but it has not concerned itself with much else, and fortified its home against outside intrusion. For all that, First Market has not been so very isolated that one cannot learn about the world beyond. Adherbal, having been put to work copying books at first, made for a very fine student of those same books, and then, beyond that, he began to collate people's oral accounts to further expand the library.
Over the years, he has become a full-time chronicler, someone to witness events and record them. He has served diligently, and with House Phavah's departure from isolation, Adherbal has a whole world beyond to document too. It may take some time.
Personality
Adherbal is a keen-minded and diligent scholar, with substantial capacity for absorbing, processing and understanding information. While he spent much of his earlier years documenting matters in and Meseh Nomes, the scope of the world which may be of interest to House Phavah is now rather larger. He travels to observe events, though never really to participate directly apart from when he is asked questions, and keeps meticulous notes on whatever he might see, usually from a safe remove. In his free time, he often reads, though he is an avid listener to people's stories too, and can often be encouraged to recount some of his own, though he is never the main character in his tales.
Notable Traits
Adherbal is a fine scholar and chronicler, and equally fine at keeping himself safely concealed while documenting even rather dangerous events.
