Lady Bernadine Salfeld

Bernadine Salfeld, the half-Dyrian daughter of Franziska Salfeld and Xander Salfeld, born Xander Regas, grew up in South Valley while it was still the primary holding of House Salfeld. She had moved to Myos to study when the Greenwood War broke out, and returned home for a time, although her input at the time was limited, and she observed more out of academic curiosity than anything. Thereafter she went back to Myos again, then to the great university in Sanctuary.

Bernadine's whole adult life has been one of learning and, sometimes, applying that knowledge. She spends much of her time in Sanctuary or in Myos, where the greatest repositories of knowledge can be found, but she does travel on request. It might be for an artistic symposium, or perhaps her capacity as an engineer is in demand.

There aren't enough hours in the day for Bernadine to do all that she might want to do. Her mind is like a sponge and she absorbs virtually anything and everything she comes across. She has specific areas of interest: art, medicine, philosophy, mathematics and engineering, but absent those she is generally content to engage with whatever crosses her path, especially if there is something challenging about it.

Bernadine is comfortable in most situations at court, but unlike some of her family, who might take any meeting as a chance to make new allies and build networks, Bernadine is quite happy to just speak with people about her interests. Some of her philosophical insights may verge on the subversive and she generally keeps those out of public earshot.

Bernadine is remarkably intelligent, adept in philosophy, engineering, medicine, and is an adept artist.
