Description
Background
Bogdan Albalaski, uncle of the grand duchess, has spent all his life in service to the grand duchy, as he would deem right and proper. In his younger years, he was a warrior, then was appointed a commander charged with the security of the Whitewater Plain from Vilslev to the Wailing Sea. It was and is a monumental task, considering the size of Lonin and the number of threats facing it, but he proceeded undaunted.
After four decades of surviving unscathed in the harsh terrain of Lonin and through numerous skirmishes with raiders and sinister creatures from the Terror, Bogdan found it bleakly funny that the thing to finally take him from that duty was the physical slowdown that came with age.
For the past several years, he has accustomed himself to a new position, being named Castellan of the Icespire. He is the chief officer of the great fortress, charged with its upkeep and defence. Following encouragement from his family, he has taken to attending the imperial court more often, where he finds other ways to attend to his duties. He has numerous deputies and the day to day functioning can be delegated as needed. In Sanctuary, he does as any Albalaski does: he seeks friends and he seeks aid for the ongoing defence of Lonin.
Personality
Bogdan is a serious man with a disposition towards occasional bout of bleak or gallows humour. Though his days of fighting personally are mostly behind him, he enjoys great respect among the lesser nobility and common soldiers under his command. His style as a leader reflects how he is personally: steady, firm, and patient, never hurrying to a decision nor even voicing it aloud until he is sure of it.
The bustle and pageantry of the imperial court in Sanctuary resemble in some regards that of Vilslev itself, with House Albalaski's age-old support of the arts having developed it as a cultural hub. Bogdan likes it all well enough, even if he has little to contribute himself. At social engagements, he is patient, often quiet, until he is quite sure on what he wants to speak of and with whom, to the point that to an outside viewer it might manifest as stand-offishness or awkwardness.
Notable Traits
Bogdan is an able leader of his people, both in war and in peace.
