Description
Background
Dietrich is a second cousin of the empress, and great-grandson of the late Emperor Rubert Otrese. Growing up, he was afforded many of the privileges available to any Otrese, although there was never any specific responsibility awaiting him. He spent time dabbling in this and that, from learning military theory to almost a year spent as a student at Sanctuary's university, though his time there was characterised by showing up to lectures as the whim took him, with no rhyme nor reason beyond that it was interesting in the moment.
It wasn't until his early thirties that Dietrich became even remotely settled on one thing. He had always been a people person, and he started hosting social functions, which he demonstrated a talent for, even if, or perhaps because, the themes and types of functions might vary wildly from one to the next. In 630, he sought and was appointed to the vacant post of Master of Ceremonies, often just an honorific, but one which he has taken to gleefully.
Personality
Dietrich is a social butterfly through and through, and often just as flighty as any butterfly. He is almost always cheerful and bright. He is driven by whims and passing ideas more than any particular long-term plan. He enjoys people and he enjoys parties, and the post of Master of Ceremonies is one that he has taken to with great aplomb and, to the general surprise of his acquaintances, consistency, at least as long as he is able to introduce entertaining elements to his functions. More serious or even sombre functions still tend to have to be the domain of others, whether because Dietrich's interest is too quick to wane or because there is a real risk of him introducing something quite improper.
Notable Traits
Dietrich is sociable and friendly, a passable organiser, and has occasional bouts of inspiration.
