Description

Background

Erika is a first cousin of Koline. She was a serious child, who took every lesson to heart and forever sought to achieve the goals placed in front of her. When the setting of specific goals eased up as she approached the age of twenty, she rather went adrift for a time, and did little to excel. Her aunt, the late Empress Constanze Otrese, was among the first to notice and try to put Erika back on a path rather than meandering, by appointing her to command soldiers in Firstbridge, with clear goals of bringing her unit to particular standards. Once more, Erika excelled.

In 630, Erika was named Protector of the Tower of Valon, the commander of the Imperial Guard. It is not the most senior of imperial appointments, but the Protector of the Tower is responsible for the safety of the citadel, of the imperial house, and indeed of all those attending the imperial court, and for maintaining the Guard in a high state of preparedness. It is a position requiring the utmost trust, and Erika has not let her family down.

Personality

Erika is driven by the goals that others set. She will push hard to achieve them, whether one-off or recurring goals, and being Protector of the Tower provides plenty of those. Left without a clear goal though, she can quickly find herself at a loose end. She is wholly and absolutely committed to her duty and a staunch guardian of her family and indeed all in Sanctuary. As a leader, providing she herself has been given direction, she seeks to inspire through her own relentless dedication.

She is not the best at entirely disengaging from her duty, even at the urging of her own family to take even a moment for herself. She tries, but her mind drifts rapidly back to her duty soon enough.

Notable Traits

Erika is an able leader and particularly adept in directing the Imperial Guard in their core purpose of protecting others.
