Description
Tall and lean, this man cuts a striking figure. His black-skinned features are angular and sculpted, with dark brown eyes, flecked with amber. His scalp is clean-shaven and he wears a fastidiously-kempt black goatee, shot through with streaks of silver. A few scars, mostly old, mar his form.
Background
Kamzu, eldest child of the last sufet, Magon, followed closely in his father's footsteps. His father believed in ever maintaining the strength to face the world beyond, and that a sufet should face the worst of trials that they might put their people through: to do so and to come through unscathed was to confirm that one was truly blessed. For the people of Anput and Meseh, that means facing the great beasts of . As a young man, Kamzu was placed among the soldiers who ward against the perils of the vast jungle, under the tutelage of his older relatives. As Kamzu gained experience, he in turn began to lead.
Kamzu shared the same view as most of House Phavah about joining the empire. It was to him, though a teenager at the time, a bizarre, needless move. In the end, the Phavahs for years maintained their isolated state. Kamzu went from strength to strength as a leader, developing a reputation as being wholly dauntless, and well loved by his soldiers. It has not been without peril, and he has been wounded, but he still puts himself to the fore time and again.
In 629, he inherited rule of the house. In 630, the great flood of the Emerald River devastated much of House Phavah's home. They sought to fix the problems unaided through 631, apart from Kamzu leading a delegation to Jewel to try to petition Most Exalted King . The king refused to even receive Kamzu, proclaiming the Phavahs to be ill-omened. In early 632, pressed by his beloved brother Mago in particular, Kamzu finally elected to look beyond to see what help could be found.
Personality
Kamzu is dauntless in the face of danger to the point of being renowned among his soldiers for it. It is for him to set an example, to his mind. If he wishes his warriors to stand fast in the face of a great, rampaging lizard, then he must do so too, and so he will stand to the fore and he will call orders until the last moment. He has every expectation that his troops will follow his example.
The dauntlessness manifests as a stubborn streak in his approach to rule. There is a right way to do it, which is for to shepherd its strength in the face of a hostile world. This is a position a little at odds with the fact that House Phavah's home is still devastated, though its people remain loyal, if struggling.
Kamzu's free time is largely given over to pursuits to keep his mind sharp. He reads, and has a measure of insight into places well beyond his home - insight which has not in fact convinced him that the world beyond is necessarily a place to thrive. He is also known as an avid fan of board games.
Notable Traits
Kamzu is almost wholly dauntless in the face of danger, an able commander and warrior.
