Lord Kimon Aetos

Kimon Aetos is a cousin of Duchess Melissa Aetos and part of the young generation that essentially seized power within the house in 629. Kimon's younger years have been defined by being an ardent socialite, striking a conspicuous figure in both the Dyrian and imperial courts. He was regarded by some external to House Aetos as being symptomatic of the indolence and decadence that had beset the house and led to its decades-long decline, though his placement firmly in the duchess' favour led to some revision of views. He was a firm supporter of Melissa taking the ducal seat, as were his younger brother, Theon and older sister, Efthymia. The siblings are close to one another, even if Theon is wildly different in personality to the othersy. Their, Eftychia, is the second eldest sibling of the late Duchess Phyllis Aetos, but absent political aspirations of her own, typical of an entire generation of the house, made no particular move to lay claim to the duchies. She is happy to leave such concerns to others.

Kimon has been a frequent presence at the imperial court in Sanctuary since 629. He routinely hosts at the Aetos estate and has a broad circle of friends and acquaintances. He's an enthusiastic attendee at anyone else's parties, functions, soirees, impromptu gatherings or whatever else they may be.

Kimon is a socialite through and through. He's friendly, charming, apparently perpetually good-humoured and quite willing to court any number of minor scandals in the name of a good time but never anything truly major. He has a sense of humour that can stray into the absurd, but presents himself with such verve that it often works out just fine anyway. He is assisted in various matters by his older sister, Efthymia, who is charged with caring for the house's extensive vineyards. His younger brother is Theon Aetos, though while Efthymia and Kimon have much in common, Theon and Kimon could scarcely be more different to one another: Theon is drab, precise, and really very smart, while Kimon is flamboyant, easygoing, and squarely middle of the road intellectually.

Kimon distinguishes himself as a particularly fine host. His social functions in Sanctuary are the stuff of stories already. He organises, and he does so well. He comfortably maintains a broad circle of friends or at least acquaintances, and never forgets a face.

Pressed to engage in anything "serious" though, Kimon struggles. He just does not engage well in the intricacies of managing the house's domain, formal engagement with vassals, or anything of the ilk. He will try, if his family asks, but they generally know better than to do so.

Kimon is a socialite through and through, with some decent capacity to organise. Placed in any situation where "serious" work is involved, he rarely applies himself well though.
