Exalted Sufet Kothar Heshbeh

Kothar Heshbeh is the eldest child of the previous sufet, the late Hannon Heshbeh. He was raised under the assumption that he would become sufet, per Hadashi tradition, and the Heshbehs have always expected their sufet to be directly involved in the rule of their domain.

Kothar's father had been old enough to see the civil war that saw House Rannal depose House Anast. Kothar himself recalls well the debates preceding Hadash becoming part of the Empire. It was an eyebrow-raising and surprising proposition from the then king, but not one which House Heshbeh opposed. The Heshbeh preference is always for stability, and the prospect of some external entity which might help to bring order in whatever new bout of internecine conflict might threaten Hadash was welcome. Pearlsedge itself might be removed from such concerns, but its trade is not.

Kothar has four children, Tamar, Tanisa, Dagon and Melqar.

Kothar's father died in 620, and Kothar has ruled Pearlsedge since. Some look to him for answers to what to do about King Misic's madness, though speaking obliquely to avoid any directly treasonous commentary, but Kothar has refrained from offering his views so far.

Kothar is shrewd and cunning. He rarely reveals his thoughts on matters until he is entirely ready to do so and never hurries unduly to a decision which does not need to be hurried. He assembles plans and gives them time to come together. He is driven by an ambition to keep going the ancient legacy of his house and of his city, and has no intention to risk that; he does, though, understand very well that doing nothing can be risky in and of itself. Since the Hadashi entry to the empire, Kothar has been a somewhat frequent presence in Sanctuary, where he is quite open to the prospect of new friends and allies, even so far from home. He is rarely without a gift for a new acquaintance, most often spice or porcelain from the Cornucopian Realms.

Kothar is a shrewd and competent ruler and socially adept.
