Description
Background
Manos Aetos is a grandson of the deposed Queen Areti Aetos, now in exile in Wend. He is the son of her second son, Loukis, who she disinherited due to his alleged unfitness to rule. Loukis is a gentle, mellow man with little care for the trappings of nobility, and Manos takes very much after his father, rather than his mother, Maria, a Hanan of fierce temperament. Manos' sister, Calliope, is two years younger than him, and recently had command of House Aetos' military passed to her. Loukis is pushing 60 and has a game leg, and prefers the quiet of a coastal village near Malthi nowadays, eschewing politics regardless of any claims he may have.
Manos was educated at Myos in the Great Green, seat of House Regas, where he learned the arts of architecture and engineering. He took to them well and is well regarded for his technical skill, though he only has a small measure of real experience so far.
He takes only a modest interest in many of the day-to-day functions of House Aetos, though he is a steady advocate for public works projects. He has taken a particular interest in the collapsed curtain wall of Hanan Watch in the Duchy of Taras, though it's far from the only thing to deal with - as of 632, most of the public buildings in Malthi are in some way decrepit.
Personality
Manos is gentle, kind-hearted and amiable. He's never a man in a hurry, taking his time with whatever he does to be sure it is right, before moving on. He's steady and, while he rarely makes a point of asserting himself, he is not easily shaken nor deterred from a task he has set about. He's quite capable of immersing himself in his work for days at a time, and is thorough and diligent about it.
He has a most peculiar habit for a man of high station in Dyria, in that he might ask the opinion of even an unlearned peasant and listen carefully. Whether because of this habit, his general manner, or that his presence in a region means that paid work may very well follow, he is popular among the commonfolk of Malthini and Taras.
Notable Traits
Manos is an able engineer and can contribute readily to any projects big or small. He is rarely anything other than amiable and mild, to the point that people sometimes struggle to stay angry around him.
