Sonia Vanzek

Sonia is the eldest daughter of King Victor Vanzek, and granddaughter of the late Queen Aldona Vanzek, daughter of Agata Fletza and niece of Boyar Jurand Fletza. Some have observed that she takes virtually all of them, and her great-aunt Irma, except for Victor, who she is really quite unlike. Even through her education, she used to assume that her family was in some respect inherently royal, and would agitate to have lessons focus on the realm as a whole, not just the Prosna Valley, and she could be quite pushy about it, at least moreso than a teenager might usually be.

In 632, she decided that she cannot very well be detained by tutors any further, much as her father might try to insist she needs further education, and so she set off to engage in public life and to make herself known to the court in Sanctuary.

Sonia carries herself as if she has authority. It's not that she actually has authority or is even at any point guaranteed to be bestowed with authority, but that certainly doesn't stop her. She saw how her grandmother was - smart, steady, and ultimately wielding considerable authority - and conducts herself in the same way, at least as much as she can without having the same position or any of the same experience. Her father has observed to her that she is putting the cart before the horse, and that Aldona was in the first place a fine politician and able diplomat. These are certainly qualities that Sonia holds in high regard, but she rather wants to have it all at once rather than putting it in place piece by piece.

Sonia is smart and sociable, but still has a great deal to learn more generally - she has had lessons on management of a domain and in political affairs, but not at all to the level of her late grandmother's ability.
