Lord Tobias Lindner

Salt and pepper hair is cut to a soldier's utilitarian length and is still full and thick atop this older gentleman's head, despite his abundance of years. A slight, scarred bump nips at the bridge of a strong nose, just below two eyes as bright and green as a house cat's. Both his frame, thicker now in the belly likely due to age and an indulgence or two, and his short beard might oppose the assumption one might make that he ever was a commander of armed forces... however, they also do little to diminish the obvious fact that this older fellow is still fit and ready for nearly anything.

Tobias is the younger brother of the vanished, presumed dead, Gerhart Lindner, and uncle to Countess Silja Lindner. In his earlier years, he was frequently in his brother's company. He commanded part of the Lindner army during the Greenwood War of 617, though saw only limited action, as most did. He has broader experience from ventures elsewhere in Elthos, most notable the Expanse, home to House Sikorin. In 623, his brother asked him to take charge of the running of Alina's Fastness as its constable. Tobias accepted and has been managing the fortress since. When his brother vanished in 629, he joined the search parties, but to no avail.

Though there was no true prospect of anyone contesting Silja's inheritance, Tobias was nonetheless quick to declare her countess. He has continued about the management of the Fastness since then, though still makes the short journey to Sanctuary often enough to represent Lindner's interests, or, perhaps more to the point, to notify all present of Lindner's views, even if he is less strident about it than some of his family.

Tobias is married to Lady Irmgard, a distant cousin of Countess Elsa. Their children include Manfred Lindner, who joined the Knights Custodian a few years ago, and Sieglinde Lindner, recently finished her training as a knight.

Tobias is everyone's uncle. Specifically, he does actually have nieces and nephews, but beyond that, he comports himself with an air of assuredness and friendliness towards most others too. He's every bit as devoted an adherent of the Cult of Valon as most Lindners are, though some might wonder at his often nonchalant air. To Tobias, these aren't at odds: he is comfortable in his position and conducts his duties well. He is beloved of the soldiers of the Fastness, and should the fortress ever be attacked, there is no question about the dedication of its defenders.

While abroad, he's a fount of wisdom about how to manage land and lead people. Much of his wisdom so happens to be the teachings of the Cult of Valon through the lens of his own experiences, but he means it sincerely. He also happens to offer it whether people have looked for it or not.

Tobias is an able leader and competent warrior.
