Exalted Urumil Anadun

A birthmark streak of bright silver through the middle-front of tousled black waves meets the other, peppered locks that are presently appearing at this man's left temple. His mouth is firm and his lips are oft pressed together in thought while the slightest of wrinkles shows itself between his almost perpetually ponder-furrowing brows. Seastorm gray eyes practically glow from within a fringe of delicately curled lashes against the backdrop of his deeply tanned skin and his hands are surprisingly dexterous for how thick his fingers and labor roughened palms are.

Urumil was born and raised in Summer's Abode, and mentored extensively about the mercantile requirements of House Anadun. He took a particular interest in maritime matters and as an adult sought training in piloting and navigation. The Sea Between is rougher than the Encircled Sea, and certainly rougher than the Emerald River, which are more familiar to most imperial mariners. Urumil has the unusual luxury - and certainly the unusual mindset - of being able to experiment with ships and with sailing and navigational techniques. So far, he has made no great breakthrough, but he is persistent.

Urumil does conduct more conventional voyages amid his various experiments and is a frequent sight in the port of Summer's Abode, traversing the Thasund and in the haven in Sanctuary. He was a young child when Hadash joined the empire, but ships flying Anadun colours had been visiting Elthos long before that.

Urumil is not disposed to accept orthodoxy in any respect. That things are done in a certain way is not cause for them to continue to be done in that way, if a better way can be found. This manifests most obviously in his approach to sailing, but he has no difficulty with picking apart just about anything else. He is competent enough in mercantile matters, but has intermittently wondered at everything from monetary systems to the nature of contracts. He has no particular personal interest in spreading his ideas though; they might come to mind then be whisked away an instant later as something more interesting appears. He makes an exception for sailing: he always records his experiences.

Urumil is a superb sailor and a competent captain.
