Engaging with the Story and World
To interact with the story or world, the main ways to go are through actions or through GMed scenes, or a mix of both.
Actions are the primary way to conduct big-picture, high-level and lengthy engagement with the world. See help action in-game for the syntax, but to get started, you just need to use "action/pitch", which is a way of suggesting it in an out-of-character way and commencing a discussion on it. You can do an action by yourself and you can invite other players. Please check in with other players before inviting them to an action.
Actions are a back-and-forth interaction. You can add extra posts to an action, both in-character narrative and out-of-character discussion. Rolls may be required at points, and you can make a limited number of rolls across all actions per chapter. The average chapter will be four to six weeks long.
Please keep action submissions to single elements of what a character is doing in that particular moment. That enables a speedy GM response, whereas an "if-then" sequence which covers contingencies takes much longer to determine, and depending on world events, the answer may even later become invalid.
GMed scenes are better suited to short-term undertakings or those that simply benefit from a live narrative. They are quite time-dependent, of course. You can request one as a stand-alone event, but they might also be a reasonable part of an action.
