The Imperial Territories
The are the direct holdings of the and of its Adanan vassals. They encompass much of the northern and western coasts of the Encircled Sea and run a long way inland. The city of is in the Imperial Territories, at the mouth of the River Ada, on the coast of the Encircled Sea.
The Realm of Adana existed only from 7 BF, when first began his rapid consolidation of minor polities on the western and northern shores of the Encircled Sea, to 32 AF, when Adana, and formed the empire, from which time the Realm of Adana became known as the Imperial Territories. Some may still use the name informally to the current day. The Imperial Territories have been under the rule of House Otrese since Valon's departure from the world. In the early years of the empire, its rule of the Imperial Territories was absolute, but as its domain and the empire as a whole has expanded, it has had to be increasingly careful in the exercise of its authority, and internal politics and diplomacy can be every bit as intricate as engagement with foreign powers.
The Cult of Valon, the religion that formed in the decades after Valon's departure from the world, is strongest in the Imperial Territories. The nobility there often follow the cult's tenets, whether they are religious or not. It is their responsibility to ensure the nobility as a whole remain strong and to rule firmly. Adanan nobles are often martially minded and are either soldiers themselves or ensure that their house retains a suitable military.
The Imperial Territories are generally stable, although the often fractious nobility of , under House Gabel, are a frequent nuisance, while 's seizure of a foreign duchy during the Greenwood War of 617 presents a number of consequent issues in the current day. In 631, Empress Constanze Otrese died and her eldest daughter, , inherited the throne.
The symbol of the Imperial Territories is that of the empire as a whole, a white eagle on an orange shield.
