Realm of Intis
Intis is a moderately large realm immediately to the west of the Imperial Territories and the Grand Republic of Thasen. It formed in the decades following the Third Greytide. It is Adanan in culture, as are other places to its west, making the Empire of Adana an absurd misnomer to the minds of Intisi people.
It has enjoyed mostly peaceful, if not necessarily cordial, relations with the empire for much of its history. Since the late 500s AF, Intis has been mired in a cycle of poor governance and weak crown control.
In 615, the Duchy of Greenwood in Intis was left without anyone with a strong claim to it. This led eventually to the Greenwood War of 617, as Count Gerald Salfeld assembled a coalition of imperial houses to invade Intis. The Intisi Crown sat inert through the invasion, despite the protests of its vassals, and the war was brief indeed. Greenwood became part of the Empire. Intis sent a delegation to Sanctuary to register a formal protest but its diplomats were ignored.
There are no longer normal diplomatic relations between the empire and Intis. Some travel between the two continues, but Intis imposes steep tolls on imperial merchants.
The rapid expansion of the Dominion of Rin since 620 has caused some alarm in Intis, since many believe it might be next to be invaded, and is ill prepared for it. The best hope some have is that Rin invades a different central Elthosian polity first, though it is not clear that Intis would actually do anything if granted that extra time, and might only face a stronger dominion afterwards.
